Born in 1992, Cendre is a non-binary visual artist. They live and work in Saint-Étienne, France. Self-taught and an ecologist by training, they hold an engineering degree in agronomy and a Master’s degree in ecology from the Natural History Museum of Paris.
Experimentation and alteration are at the heart of Cendre’s practice. In their projects, they combine complementary mediums, film photography, video and ceramics, where light, chemistry, fire and volume can interact. Their work has been exhibited at spazioSERRA in Milan, the Barcelona Experimental Photography Festival, the Night of the Year in Les Rencontres d’Arles and at the Les Nuits photo festival in Paris.
